Making Every Week Count: Faith-Filled Moments with Your Kids This Summer
By Tabitha Turner
Have you seen the new viral dance that’s been making its way across social media? It features Forrest Frank singing these powerful lyrics:
“Lord, I need You now more than ever.
Would You put my heart back together?
I searched the world till my head hurt,
Now I'm finding that Your ways are better.”
I’ve loved watching these videos—especially the ones where parents and children are worshiping together. There’s something so pure and beautiful about those shared moments of faith. They remind us that in the middle of our busy, messy days, we can still make space for something sacred. A small moment. A tender connection. And while those moments are incredibly meaningful—they’re also fleeting.
Did you know we have about 936 weeks with our children from birth to high school graduation? Picture a jar filled with 936 marbles. Every week, you remove one to represent the time that has passed. That week is gone. We don’t get it back. When we look at our time that way, it puts things in perspective—it calls us to be intentional.
This summer, let’s choose to make the most of our marbles. It doesn’t have to be elaborate or Instagram-worthy. Maybe it’s collecting bugs in the backyard, making lunch together, or finishing a puzzle on the porch. Whatever it looks like for your family, let it be real. Let it be meaningful. Let it be a moment that matters.
Because in the end, it’s those simple moments that help shape our children’s faith, their memories, and their hearts.
Let’s make each marble count.
And if you’re looking for ways to connect with your kids this summer, here’s a short list of my favorite family activities to do in Bluffton.
